The optometrists of Eye Care Group are excited to partner with the surgeons from Cataract & Laser Institute in Medford, Oregon. Together we can offer our patients, in office, ophthalmic medical and surgical consultations. Dr. Barrus and Dr. Schultz, are highly-experienced and skilled surgeons. They use the latest techniques with state-of-the-art equipment and technology. Below you will find the biography of each surgeon and links to their website.

content_BarrusLoren Barrus, MD

Dr. Loren Barrus has been a physician and surgeon at Cataract & Laser Institute since 1989 He has been the president since 1993. During that time he has performed well over 10,000 eye surgeries. These include cataract and lens-implant surgery with multi-focal and accommodating lenses.

Dr. Barrus has published and presented original research at national meetings. He has lectured extensively and made numerous contributions to ophthalmology textbooks.

His hobbies include water and snow skiing, fishing, and tennis. He served in the Boy scouts of America and Cub Scouts for over 15 years. He also coached youth soccer and Pop Warner football for 12 years. Dr. Barrus is currently accepting new patients.

content_Schultz_2_Paul Schultz, MD

Dr. Paul Schultz received his medical degree from the University of New Mexico School of Medicine in 1985. He completed his internship at Naval Hospital Oakland, in Oakland, California.

After internship he spent three years with the United States Navy serving as a medical officer aboard the U.S.S. Ogden (LPD5). After serving in the United States Navy, Dr. Schultz went on to complete a residency and fellowship in ophthalmology at the prestigious University of Iowa hospitals and clinics.

He has been a physician and surgeon for Cataract and Laser Institute since 1993. Dr. Schultz is a member of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society, Jackson County Medical Society, Iowa Eye Association, and Oregon Academy of Ophthalmology. Dr. Schultz is currently accepting new patients.
